What are the Clairs and why should you develop your intuition?
The clairs are how our unique intuitions speak to us. They consist of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, clairolfaction, clairgustation and claircoersion. This series focuses on each of the clairs. What are they? How do they show up in our lives? How can you develop your intuition? And why is it important?
So many of us go through this life doing things that we don’t want to do. We overrule our intuitions in order to make someone else happy. Maybe we are still taking our cues from outdated societal norms. Living in a way that isn’t authentic is what makes us lose trust in ourselves and our intuitions. It made me feel like I could not rely on myself to know what I needed. Or if I did know, a lot of the times I overruled that feeling. I typically did this to fit in with someone else’s version of what was needed. How could I possibly trust myself after years of overruling my intuitions and feelings??
Things got so bad with my trust that I truly felt at one point like I had NO intuition! This is a very dangerous place to be because it usually drives a person to seek answers outside of themselves. Further digging that “no-trust” hole and leading to positions of vulnerability and “giving your power away” to other people.
After spending years studying the clairs, one aspect of my life that has changed drastically is my ability to access and trust my intuition. Learning to develop your intuition and access it in a bigger way is one process. The deeper work embedded in that process is learning to trust your intuition.
How did I learn to trust my intuition, you ask??
There are many exercises you can do to grow your intuition and tune into yourself. Spending quiet time alone (especially in nature) has been the biggest thing to help me. If you’re sensitive, it can be difficult to tell the difference in your feelings and those of others. This is why it is very important to really ground and get clear before attempting to access your clairs.
Another thing that really helped was to learn about the different clairs. Knowing which clair gifts you have access to specifically can be very helpful. Capitalizing on the gifts you have and not forcing the ones you don’t can be very beneficial in learning to trust yourself.
To my knowledge, there are 7 clairs: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, clairgustation, clairolfaction (or clairalience), claircoersion (or clairpersuasion).
It is my intention that this series provide valuable information about each of the clairs: what they mean, how they may show up in your life and how to develop them further so that each of you is able to more fully access your own inner wisdom and guidance.
One thing to note when awakening your intuition: as we clear blockages, more come up to be cleared. Clearing your intuition has a layered, “peeling the onion” effect. This is normal and it can sometimes be physically painful. It is important to always be checked by a doctor if you are having severe symptoms. That being said, it is not uncommon to have headaches, ringing in the ears, sleeplessness, pressure in the throat, difficulty swallowing and occasional GI upset.
